Health Risk Assessments (HRAs) that evaluate the impact of diesel engine emissions and other toxic air contaminant sources are increasingly becoming an analysis requirement in the CEQA process.  Supervising Air Quality Specialist, Leland Villalvazo will lead this hands-on workshop on dispersion modeling for individuals who work on the preparation of HRAs.  The workshop will be focused on model preparation (emissions inventory, data sources, etc.), model set-up, and estimation of health risk impacts (cancer and non-cancer).  Experience with modeling is highly recommended, but not required.  Individuals should plan on bringing their own computer to run the example modeling scenarios with their modeling software.  The workshop will answer questions modelers and non-modelers have regarding methodology, resources for HRA preparation, common mistakes, and critical parameters the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District looks for in HRAs. Additionally, no specific modeling interface (Lakes Environmental’s Lakes View, Trinity’s Breeze, or Oris’ BEAST) is required.

Date: Tuesday, March 31, 2015
Time: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
Cost: AEP Members: $50, Non-members: $100 (includes lunch)
